The dictionary defines belief as "confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof". This clearly shows that faith or belief can not be seen, can not be touched but can only be felt. Some examples of belief could be belief in God, belief in religion, belief that the world is round, belief that gravity will pull you down, belief in your principles of being a good human being.
Some of these things may have proof but they are not seen by us. For example, scientists have time and again proved that the world is round but we can still 'see' the world as flat only. Yet we accept what they are saying is true because they have seen the proofs and they are saying it with certainty or conviction. Or let us take the case of gravity where Sir Isaac Newton came and 'informed' us about the existence of gravity, and, since we found it to be logical, we believe it. Take the case of people believing in their religion or in God. There are some people who are absolute fanatics while there are some who are total atheists.
The above paragraph does suggest that different people have different beliefs and that their degree of belief depends upon their own selves and what they personally have gone through in life. We believe Newton because what he said appear logical to us, because we have experienced the same phenomenon in our lives. But we do not believe in what a salesman has to say because he may have some personal benefit by misguiding us. Even though a man may have experienced a ghost, yet we do not believe in him because we do not believe in ghosts. This clearly goes on to show that our beliefs are nothing but what we 'perceive' to be true. And these beliefs could either turn out to be right or they could turn out to be wrong.
What we need to do today is to get rid of our beliefs which are stopping us from getting ahead in life. Maybe we have a belief that to become wealthy you have to become selfish, or that being successful is hard work, or that only lucky people become successful and I'm not lucky. All these beliefs could be right or could be wrong but just because you believe them to be true, they stop you from taking action. Imagine if you have the belief that you are the luckiest person on the face of this earth and that whatever you touch will turn to gold, wouldn't you go around touching everything in your home or on the streets. Wouldn't you grab any opportunity that comes your way and start working on it if you are CERTAIN that you will never lose?
And believe me, if you do win it is not because you were lucky, it is only because you took action and you took action because you had a belief that you couldn't go wrong. And I would definitely agree with Walter D. Wintle who said that ultimately the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.
Oh yes, and there is a possibility that you are wrong, and that indeed, you are unlucky. But that's where your positive attitude comes into play. Either you can continue to believe that you are unlukcy or you can agree with Anthony Robbins who says that 'you get experience, if you do not get what you want' and that 'success is a result of good judgements, good judgements is a result of experience and experience is generally the result of bad judgements'.
I will also not forget to point out that you should always believe in God or the supreme power that is controlling us all. Remember that we are all God's children and he can never see us unhappy, much the same way as we cannot see our own children unhappy. But if you 'compromise' with your life conditions and 'pretend' to be happy or contented or that not-being-successful does not hurt you, God will never be able to see that you are unhappy and you will always keep living in the same state. But to improve your conditions you have to 'feel hurt' with the present conditions.

With that, I leave you here and urge you that you should get rid of your limiting beliefs and truly believe in yourself that you were given a life only because you were MADE to be successful. Have the belief that if anyone can do it, it is you.
